Final Art Piece for my A2 Exam

Size: 100cm x 100cm

Materials used: Acrylic paint, liquified grass and mud
This is my final design for my A2 art piece. This piece represents all the work in which i have built up using the different artists. My main reasoning behind this piece is the heritage and background in which I come from, representing my life as a journey and how I see myself as an individual.

Collaboration of work

Size: each piece is approximately A2 size
Materials used: Natural materials such as grass, mud, bark, stones, leaves and sticks
More Richard Long inspired art pieces in which i usedthe same idea and concept as him, however i decided to use my own initiative and create different designs to represent my journeys. The two planks of wood at the top is a piece which is inspired by Longs textual art pieces.

England-SA - A2 Art exam

Size: A3

Materials used: Bark, Liquified grass and mud
I studied Richard Longs use of organic and natural materials in preparation for my final piece in my art exam. This piece of work was influenced by the journey of mine from different countries, using the same context as Richard Long in his art pieces.

Shaded body - Life drawing

Size: A2
Materials used: Chalk and coloured dry pastels
This piece of work was a direct drawing of the woman lying down for approximately 15 - 20 minutes. I have focused on the shapes of her body by using a more subtle approach by using the chalk to show the lighting affect on her figure.

Life drawing

Materials used: Charcoal and chalk
I used the influence of cubism in the first picture to give the figure a more rigid and direct shape. The second picture I repeated different positions of the woman ontop of eachother. Although the picture looks very confusing I like the way in which each drawing brigns another one out.

Materials used: Charcoal and colour pastels
Another piece of work I did during life drawing lessons. The first picture i used a different way of drawing by using the edge of the charcoal to give it a more swift, easy figure drawing. The second picture I did quick contour line drawings over eachother to give a different effect using a variety of colours.

Contour drawings

Size: A3
Materials used: Charcoal and coloured pastels
I used the technique of contour line drawing which was a quicker technique used than the shadowed pictures I did. The coloured contour lines represent the proximity of the person. The red representing the body being closer and the blue representing it being further away.

"Wrapping figures"

Size: A2
Materials used: Graphite  
I used a different technique of the womans body to show a "wrapping" figure. This technique was used to show the warious position of the woman moving around. The beginning of the sketches was rough, however it did get a lot easier towards to end.

Overlapping Bodies

Size: A3
Materials used: Charcoal
I decided to overlap the womans body 3 times to give a different dimention to the picture. This piece of work i like very much as it is confusing, however i am able to identify each body.

Life drawing

Materials used: Chalk, charcoal and colours pastels
Life drawing has been an new experience in my life since starting at my new school and i have found that it has helped my drawing skills greatly through out the year. In picture one the concept was to look at the lighting on the womans body and without using contour lines to sharpen off the bodies shapes we were asked to use the white to show the shapes instead. The second picture was more on the idea of using contour lines and not looking at what you aer drawing but more focusing on the womans body and then drawing what you see.

I have used the same process and technique as the previous Spanish skirts, however i have used a different design of the skirt and different colours to show a variety of movements using the different colours.

Cubist skirts

Materials used: Printed Acrylic using stencils on paper

These two pieces of work are part of my coursework for A2. The idea is movement through cubism of the Spanish skirts. I have stenciled the designs of the skirts and then used different colours to overlay some of the shapes and therefore gave the pictures different movements and dimentions.  

Watercolour and pencil drawings

Materials used: Picture 1: Watercolour, Picture 2: Tonal Pencil 
Both these pieces of art work were influenced by an artist by the name of Saul Roberston. Both the pieces represent my life as a South African and my heritage from the 1800 British settlers. This is one of the piece's i have used in my final A2 exam.

#arabic Scirpt with Heritage "backgrounds"

Materials used: African and England fabrics with printed Arabic script
This piece of art was influenced by my heritage from the British and African backgrounds. The Arabic scirpt is a symbolic piece of wiritng which i have used in my final piece for my A2 Exam.

#abstract Arabic Script

Size: Roughly A2
Materials used: Ink, Wax, Organza material, Dye
In this piece of art, I was influenced by an artist by the name of Ali Hassan in the design of the art work. However, The use of Organza over the Arabic letters, was influenced by another artists by the name of Mona Hatoum. The Organza has a manuscript printed on it to give the piece of work more meaning.
